Virgen del Carmen, Paucartambo - July 15th - 18th

The Virgen del Carmen festival, also known as Mamacha Carmen, is celebrated in the town of Paucartambo, four hours from Cusco.
Virgen del Carmen is the saint patron of Peru and each July (15th-18th) the Mamacha (mother) is taken out in procession through the city streets. She is accompanied by troupes of musicians playing their instruments, richly dressed dancers performing choreographies about Peruvian history and choirs singing in Quechua.
