How To Get To Cusco and Machu Picchu

Traveling from Lima to Cusco: Access by air

Peru occupies a privileged location in the heart of South America, turning Jorge Chavez Airport (in Lima) into an international hub for tourism and several airlines that fly to many destinations in South America. There are direct and stop-over flights to Lima from the main capitals cities of the world.

Traveling from Cusco to Machu Picchu: Access by train

Planning a tour to Machu Picchu? Machu Pichu can be reached only by train. It is a three-hour train ride directly from Cusco; one can go to Aguas Calientes at the base of the ruins, from either Cusco or Ollantaytambo station in the Sacred Valley. There are two companies providing this service: Peru Rail which departs from the Poroy station and Inca Rail departing from the Ollantaytambo station.

Touring Machu Picchu

Secure your entrance tickets to Machu Picchu at least three months before your trip since there is a 2,500-visitors-per-day limit. You may purchase your tickets directly at the Peruvian government's official website but we highly recommend that your Travel Agent assist you with buying your tickets and making trip arrangements.
